Home Education Day

View More

Are you a home educator? Bring your family and join us for a Home Education Day!

Your day will begin when you arrive and check-in with our staff in the upstairs foyer for either the morning or afternoon session. You'll spend your sessionnbsp;enjoying our 45 minute boat trip and an hour of activities in our learning room exploring the lives of the people who lived on working canal boats. Get hands-on with our handling collection of roses and castles canalware, discover how locks work with our model canal, experiment with the best way to load a model boat and paint a paper ribbon and lace plate to take home with you. You'll also get to see for yourself what the living quarters on a working boat were like with our to-scale floor mat and virtual reality viewers (VR recommended for ages 7+, we'll also have an alternative on hand for little ones).nbsp;

If you'd like to eat lunch on site just let us know once you've booked and we'll have a space inside for you to eat. Our Gongoozler restaurant and gift shop will be open if you wish to purchase meals or snacks.

From 12.30pm to 2pm there will also be activity booklets for you to explore our exhibition gallery with, led by yourselves and supported by our volunteer team. Our team will be around until 2pm in the exhibition, however you're welcome to stay as long as you wish.nbsp;

Tickets for the day cost 8.75 for young people. All adults supporting them and any accompanying infants (2 years or under) are free! Please make sure you select a ticket for everyone in your group as capacity on our boats is limited.
We'll also provide you with some supporting resources to take home with you, so that you can continue the learning and discovery after your visit.nbsp;
